How to Edit YouTube Videos: A Guide

Nowadays, we all know that YouTube is a major platform for content creators. Making videos isn’t just about recording footage, but editing videos is just as important. Video editing plays a vital role in giving your content a professional look and appeal to the audience. But now I will also share with you my experience with various tools, processes and techniques that help you edit YouTube videos.

  1. Video Editing Priority

Video editing is essential to make a masterpiece the way we like it. It helps us to tell your story in detail, present it attractively, trim footage, add effects, transitions, music and text etc. Proper editing of YouTube videos can help you gain more audience and also increase the viewer engagement of your videos.

2. Before Starting Editing: Things to Know

Before starting editing, you need to have all the necessary footage, audio, images ready. I would say that you should have a clear idea in advance of what you want to do, in what style you want to present it, and what editing effects you want to use.

.3 CHOICE OF EDITING SOFTWARE

Choosing the right software for your editing is very important. There are many types of software available in the market. Now let me tell you about some of my personal favorites

Adobe Premiere Pro: It is a renowned software for professional editing. I personally like it very much. You will find many features like beautiful effects, transitions, color grading in it.

 – Final Cut Pro: This software is specially designed for Mexa with its user-friendly interface, I would say that you will get the feeling of high quality editing.

 – Filmora: Filmora offers rich editing features with a simple interface for beginners and professionals to understand.

 – iMovie: This free software for Mac is great for editing videos easily.

 – DaVinci Resolve: This software is now available for free with various features like color grading, VFX, audio post-production.

 4. Importing Footage

The first step is to import the footage into your software of choice. Import your videos, audios and other assets into the software through the “Import” option in the software. It is a good idea to check that all the files are in the correct format. Cut the footage in half appropriately and set it properly in the timeline.

5. Trimming the video

It is important to target the footage, keep only the necessary parts and trim the rest. It removes video waste and keeps the content compact and focused. Video flow is improved by trimming and setting precisely on the timeline.

 6. Color Grading and Color Correction

Color grading helps set the mood and tone of your video. First correct the original colors in the video through color correction, then color grading can give the perfect look to the video. Software like Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are often used by professionals as they are highly capable in color grading.

7. Adding Transitions

Transitions are used to make the transition from one footage to another look smooth. As you know, using transitions can enhance the video viewing experience. Adding transitions between different scenes, for example using dissolves, fades, slides, wipes, etc., gives the video a professional touch.

 8. Audio Editing

Audio also plays an important role in video editing. Dialogues, background music, sound effects in the video should be correct and coherent. It is necessary to adjust audio levels, add music where needed, adjust environmental sound effects like echo, noise etc. It makes the video more attractive.

 9. Adding Text and Graphics

Adding text and graphics to YouTube videos is important. The use of titles, subtitles, logos, and other text makes video content meaningful and clear. It is better to plan in advance where titles are required and where text is used in the video. Ensure that the texts are of correct font size and color.

10. Using Effects and Elements

Elements like effects, motion graphics make your videos more professional and creative. Adding editing effects is easy in popular software. Be careful when using effects and make sure the video flows. Effects should reflect the original content.

11. Final Review and Export

After finishing the editing, watch the video from beginning to end and see if there are any mistakes or points to improve. If you feel all the edits are fine, export the video in the required format (ie MP4, MOV). Check if all the settings like resolution, framerate, bitrate of the final video are correct.

  12. ENDING SCREEN AND THUMBNAIL CREATION

Ending screen is another important aspect of a YouTube video. To encourage viewers to your other videos or channel, make sure to give recommended videos and your favorite videos in the ending screen, this will make your channel more useful, I guarantee.
